Wireless networks have emerged as a critical enabler of socio-economic transformation in Uganda, driving growth across key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, finance, and entrepreneurship. This review assesses the contribution of wireless technologies to national development while highlighting both opportunities and challenges. The study reveals that wireless networks have expanded access to digital platforms, facilitated mobile money adoption, enhanced e-learning and telemedicine, and provided farmers with real-time market and weather information, thereby improving productivity and livelihoods. Despite these advances, persistent challenges including inadequate infrastructure, high service costs, limited digital literacy, and restrictive policy frameworks hinder equitable access and utilization. The paper emphasizes the importance of strategic investments in digital infrastructure, comprehensive policy reforms, public-private partnerships, and nationwide capacity-building initiatives to maximize the impact of wireless networks. Strengthening cybersecurity frameworks and fostering inclusive digital ecosystems are also recommended to build trust and resilience. Overall, the findings underscore the transformative potential of wireless networks in bridging Uganda’s digital divide and advancing sustainable socioeconomic development.
